Reach Out

Reach Out

The musicianship on 'Reach Out' is uniformly excellent with Hanna herself playing guitar, keys, flute, mandolin and percussion and support from brilliant musos like Eddie Myer of Turin Brakes and Nick Tribe of Los Albertos fame. Hanna's beautiful voice of course dominates proceedings - and with a voice like hers of course it should - and she adds a rich topping of complex harmonies. There are lots of singer songwriters these days which often means more songwriter than singer but Hanna uses the voice as an instrument, like a jazz singer but this is not jazz. It's sort of folk with an acoustic psychedelic tinge which might come from John Thursfield's sympatico production.

"This album showcases Hanna visiting many different styles with her distinctive sound, and we witness her immense gifts unfolding themselves generously. The production is interesting and sensitive and I particularly like her backing vocals. The songs are personal and emotive and there are elements of mild techno and acapella." Folk magazine
